Information for Families and Juniors

Races just for kids and juniors, on-site meals and camping, and a safe, fun environment make WORS races a favorite summer destination for many families. The Subaru Cup weekend can begin with the pre-ride on Friday evening. The course is open and marked after 2:00 PM, and the whole family can hit the trails at whatever pace they choose.

For beginners, WORS will offer a Friday afternoon “Learn to Race” clinic that is popular with first time WORS racers, young and old alike. Nordic Mountain will offer an easy and economical dinner on-site. On-site camping is a popular option at the Subaru Cup, or the hotel pool might beckon. Sunday can begin with an on-site breakfast, or a smoothie from WORS Sponsor the Muddy Cup Cafe. The whole family can enjoy watching the races, including North America’s top Pros in the afternoon on Saturday. The Pro course will offer outstanding spectator opportunities as the racers loop through spectator central multiple times on each lap.

WORS Kid’s Race, presented by the Titletown Flyers Mountain Bike Team

This everyone-is-a-winner event is a hit with both young and old. Be there at 5:15 PM on Saturday after the final laps of the Pro Men’s event to catch the racing action for competitors 10 and under.

Junior’s Race
At 6:00 PM, it’s time for the Juniors (age class racers arace age 14 and under) to hit the trail, on a course designed just for them. While the Pros spent the majority of their time on the steep, technical slopes of Nordic Mountain, the Subaru Cup Juniors course is concentrated on the fast, fun single- and double-track below. This race will determine Midwest Regional Champions* for boys and girls in three classes, 10 and under, 11-12, and 13-14.  At the Subaru Cup, and at every WORS race, two dedicated volunteers follow in the wake of the Juniors field to offer any help that might be needed.

*Requires Midwest residence and an annual USA Cycling license.

WORS Citizen (Cat 3) and Sport (Cat 2) Juniors
Because The Subaru Cup Legacy XC doubles as the Midwest Regional Championships and a WORS race, racers race age (age as of 12/31/11) will race in age class rather than their normal WORS category for this event.

Junior Cat 1
To truly challenge expert riders15-18 years of age, WORS also offers the “Junior Cat 1” classes. These dedicated racers start with the Cat 1 field and many are competitive on a national level.

WORS events keep families coming back because they offer an easy-going, fun time for everyone. See you at the races!
